GP Average Earnings

From 1 April 2015, it is a contractual requirement for practices to publish on their website by the end of the financial year (i.e. 31st March), the average earnings for all GPs in their practice relating to the previous financial year (Apr- Mar).  This means the earnings of doctors engaged in the practice are publicised and the required disclosure is shown below before tax, national insurance and pension and net of practice expenses:

The average pay for GP’s working at Maybush Medical Centre in the last financial year before tax and National Insurance was £79,888. This is for 5 part time GP’s who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.

The average pay for GPs working at Maybush was £64,435 before tax and NI. This calculation is for 4 full-time GPs, 1 part-time GP and 2 Locum’s who have worked in the Practice for more than 6 months.

The average pay for GP’s working at Maybush was £63,333 before tax and NI.  This relates to 3 full time GP and 3 part time GP’s.

Please Note:  the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially mis-leading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other Practices.
