How to order
Repeat prescription requests can be made in the following ways:
- By downloading the NHS App; It is easier and quicker for you to do it this way
- In person at the surgery; you can either tick the items required on your order request form attached to your last prescription, or complete one of our short forms available in the reception area. Please place this in the prescription box in the entrance to reception
- Snail mail; in writing by post
NB: We do not accept prescription requests over the phone. In Wakefield, we also DO NOT accept requests from pharmacies on behalf of patients. This includes any online pharmacies which offer this service nationally.
Patient Services
When to order
Patients should request their regular medications 7 days before they are due. Your request will be processed by the surgery within 72 hours of the due date, and made available for you to collect from your nominated pharmacy 24-48 hours later.
Due Date | Request Date (1 week before) | Processing Date | Collection Date |
Monday | Monday | Wednesday | Friday |
Tuesday | Tuesday | Thursday | Monday |
Wednesday | Wednesday | Friday | Tuesday |
Thursday | Thursday | Monday | Wednesday |
Friday | Friday | Tuesday | Thursday |
Saturday | Saturday | Wednesday | Friday |
Sunday | Sunday | Wednesday | Friday |
If the processing date or the collection date falls on a bank holiday, when the surgery and the pharmacy is closed, please submit your request one working day earlier than the request dates shown above, for example if your collection date is a bank holiday Monday, please submit your request on the Monday the week before, instead of Tuesday.
Unfortunately a small minority of patients are repeatedly running out (or just about to run out) of their medication. Urgent requests of this nature cause a great deal of disruption to the smooth running of the Practice. A record is kept of such requests, and may well be refused by the GP, following careful questioning.
Medication Reviews
At some point it will be necessary for your repeat medication to be reviewed. We will contact you to make an appointment with a nurse, doctor or pharmacist. Please ensure you keep this appointment to prevent any interruption in your medication supply. You can also check your medication review date on the left hand side of your last prescription. Please remember if you are overdue your annual check, we will be unable to continue repeat dispensing.
